Bulletin: Sunday 5th September to Saturday 11th September 2010

Twenty-third Sunday of the Year (Cycle C)
  4th / 5th September 2010

PAPAL VISIT     There will be a meeting on Sunday 5th September 7pm for all the parishioners coming to the Vigil at Hyde Park on Sat. 18th; or to the Beatification Mass at Birmingham on Sun 19th.   If you cannot come to the meeting, please contact Ken Chan.  Also, the diocese has given us some extra allocation of Pilgrim Passes for Hyde Park. So if there are any parishioners who now wish to come to the Saturday prayer vigil, please come to the meeting or ring Ken Chan by 10th September 2010.  Ken can be contacted via email on ken.chan-orp@sky.com or by phone (evening) on 01689-837255.
We look forward with great joy to the visit of Pope Benedict to the UK. His presence will be an opportunity for us to renew our faith from the message he brings and the liturgies he will celebrate with us. To enable us to participate in the visit, as prayerfully as possible, whether we are present at one of the venues or whether we participate at home through the television, radio or internet, a special Prayer Book for the visit has been produced; it contains the texts for the liturgies together with articles to explain the context and background to other parts of the visit.
This official Prayer Book is available to all in the porch. Each pilgrim travelling to the Papal events should have a copy. Though there is no charge for this book you are most welcome to make a donation of £2 per copy in the “papers” slot in the wall by the newspapers.
Attached to the newsletter you will find a flyer highlighting the events in our parish from Monday 12th September until Saturday 18th September.

Please contact either Jim Simmons or Richard French on 01322 294 924 or email southwark@cafod.org.uk

The Good Counsel Network has for a number of months had an interesting blog which is updated daily. Today’s post is more than interesting, it is vitally important as it shows the shocking consequences of laws passed by MPs in this country. The fact is that a woman can be forced against her wishes to have an abortion on the decision of a judge in a secretive court. Please take the 2 or 3 minutes that it will take you to read our blog today even if you do not ever read it again. See:
 http://mariastopsabortion.blogspot.com/2010/08/to-end-forced-abortions-sterilisations.html
The address you need to keep up to date with their blog is http://mariastopsabortion.blogspot.com.
There will no doubt be one or two other posts in the near future relating to this subject.
