Fr Stephen was born locally in Chelsfield Lane. He was educated at St Joseph's, and St Thomas More Schools, Eltham. He worked at the London Library and the British Library before returning to fulltime education at Plater College, Oxford, gaining a theology and social studies diploma with distinction.He maintained an interest in voluntary work throughout the 1980s: with the Handicapped Children's Pilgrimage Trust; with Justice & Peace; as the Balham Deanery Council Chairman; and a founder member of the 'Prince of Peace' Community, a lay community originally based in Greenwich. He worked as a care worker, working in the community, for four years, ending up as a Deputy Care Manager.
He studied for the priesthood at the Beda College, Rome from 1997 to 2001, gaining a BA in Theology with high honours (Angelicum University). He was ordained priest in 2001.His interests include palaeontology (when younger), genealogy, reading, writing, films (original ones with a good storyline) and the Times 2 Crossword (not the Cryptic). He is also an armchair sports fan - football (Leeds United), athletics and tennis (an occasional player). He enjoys good food - English, Italian, Indian and Chinese.
After serving at Holy Innocents he was appointed Assistant Priest at Ashford (St. Teresa). He is now the Parish Priest at Walderslade (St. Simon Stock).
