The
Children's Liturgy Group operates
at the 10am Mass on Sundays, except there will be no groups on the first Sunday of the month, Church Parade Sundays or in August.
The children are divided into three age groups:
-
*Reception and yr1,
* Year 2 and Yr 3,
* post Holy Communion.(Yrs 4 and 5.)
The children leave Mass after the opening prayer and rejoin the rest of the congregation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, so that they can take part in the offertory.
Each of the age groups is looked after by a leader and helpers.
The children's time begins with a 'sorry' prayer for any actions of the previous week; then the Gospel of the week is read (which is compulsory) - a shortened one for the youngest children.
After this there are activities like crafts and drama centred around the Gospel reading. A final prayer within each group brings the children back together.
Volunteers, particularly Group Leaders, are always welcome, as are teenage helpers - extra pairs of hands are always needed!
