Since
its formation, this Group has raised thousands of pounds in funds and collected
several thousand items of clothing, toiletries, books and food donated by
Holy Innocents parishioners.
We support charities (mainly Catholic) providing for the most urgent needs of homeless people in Central London. The emphasis is on work among the young.
A tea chest is also provided in the Church porch for good second-hand clothing and other items requested through the weekly Bulletin. The Group meets seven or eight times a year, advance notice being given in the Bulletin.
Funds are raised by a variety of projects and through the regular collection of 'nuisance' money and foreign currency - the copper coins and 5ps left in one's purse or pocket each night. If donated they are not missed, but on average will provide around £500.00 per year from the parish.
