In any large Parish it is easy to get into the habit of always going to a
particular Sunday Mass, and getting to know pew friends quite well, to find
that at some special event such as a Mission or Parish Forum those on either
side are complete strangers. While many groups and activities mentioned in
these pages have diverse primary aims, they all share the secondary aim of
ensuring that we have one and not four communities at Holy Innocents!
Also, not everyone wishes or is able to commit to joining a particular Group, so all in all there is a definite place for the occasional social outing which has no purpose other than to give parishioners (and the Clergy) the chance to enjoy themselves, and to get to know each other better.
One popular event organised by our Social Committee has been the Parish Dinner,
which we hope to repeat annually. Others will be advertised in good time in
the Weekly Bulletin.
If you have any ideas for social events, or would like to help with the organisation,
the Social Committee would love to hear from you.
The Annual Parish Dinner and Dance is held in the Autumn and is always a great
success. Other events include: Pasta Evenings, Cheese and Wine Evenings, Dance
Nights, Music, Christmas Fayre, Race Nights, Quiz Nights, Flower Festival.
