Child
ren in street situations are often portrayed as either powerless victims or societal nuisances.
At Street Child Africa, we recognize that they are entrepreneurial, tenacious and intelligent.
But, they need our help.
Just like all other children, they are entitled to education, healthcare and protection.
But their access to it is often denied.
They are however at risk being caught up in a cycle of poverty.
They need a responsible adult in their lives, to offer guidance, hope and support.
But most importantly, they must be given choices and opportunities to build their own future...
Holy Innocents’ Street Child Africa group fund-raises for this worthwhile cause.
Currently the group comprises of six members who meet every two months,usually on a Wednesday evening. Since our formation in 2004, we have raised over £14,000.
New members always welcome.
Three Street children:
12-year-old Grace rummages through rubbish dumps in Harare to find bones to sell for school fees;
nine-year-old Esther has to care for her baby sister and her mother who is dying of HIV/AIDS;
and 13-year-old Obert pans for gold to make enough money to buy food for himself and his gran, while dreaming of somehow getting the education he craves.

Whose Children are They?
Whose children are they, living in a foreign land,
with precious little food, ..they don’t understand
just why they have nothing, and no one seems to care
there are so many orphans, so of parents the sight is rare!
Disease and famine prevailing, education a scarcity,
So many in the world suffer, please help..... a constant plea.
Whose children are they, running through the street,
rummaging through the rubbish, desperate for something to eat.
No sign of a decent dwelling, not even a canvas tent,
but even if there were, there’s no money to pay any rent.
Whose children are they, ragged with clothes so old,
no shoes upon their feet, no protection from the cold
Whose children are they, of siblings taking charge,
many are children themselves, these duties are much too large.
Whose children are they, to suffer in this way?
Certainly no fault of their own, they never had a say.
Whose children are they? The answer comes from Christ,
“Mine and yours” he tells us, for each was He sacrificed.
“Care for all My people,” the greatest and the small.
“Feed and clothe and love them,” so please do heed His call
